You've gotten these e-mails, I know. They start off, "In the blessed name of Jesus, I have the courage to crave indulgence for this important business..." followed by a ludicrous request to exchange funds for a charity or an investment.
Now they've met their nemesis.
Mike Berry of the UK is the author of Greetings in Jesus Name! The Scambaiter Letters and one of many so-called "Scambaiters" who make a sort of online sport out of humiliating and wasting the time of e-mail scammers.
A posting at BoingBoing says that through a complicated chain of e-mails that lasted more than six months, Berry persuaded a Nigerian scam artist to re-create the Monty Python parrot sketch, promising to enter it in a phony film contest with a cash prize. The resulting video shot to the top of YouTube's hit rankings, and has become an instant Internet classic.
God bless Mike and his brethren.
